Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) : Part of solution or A new Riddle?

Electronic Voting Machines (EVM)

Part of solution or A new Riddle?

A triangle of big business, Elite interests and misuse of latest technology is still haunting nations. In 20th century we have witnessed "Green revolutions" and in 21st century we are observing blessings of "Voting revolutions'. Is technology a new weapon in the hands of anti people forces?
During recent Indian elections we heard voices not only against bad role of Indian Election Commission but also against the use of EVMs. It is not the first time, we witnessed such voices. In many advance countries like Finland , Germany and Ireland concerned citizens have raised their voices against EVMs. International institutions working for the democratic rights of the people like Democratic Reporting International(DRI) shows its serious concerns about use of EVMs. Independent political activist Shabnam Hashmi had warned Indian politicians in December 2012 regarding misuse of EVMs in India yet at that time neither ruling elite nor communists listen to her. She had demanded that " use of EVM machines should be abandoned in any future elections". it was reported in Hindustan times. At his Facebook page she said "I had resigned from all UPA committees on December 27, 2012 and demanded the removal of EVM machines as they can be used for manipulations in the elections and undermining our democracy. "

She is not alone, neither it happened first time in the world. just read it and try to understand the trick.
Finland: Vote Re-Run after EVM failure
In 2008, Finland piloted the use of EVMs in three municipalities (with traditional paper balloting also
allowed). Acting on a complaint, the Supreme Administrative Court cancelled the results in the
three municipalities because of flaws in the procedures and instructions in the use of EVMs, and
ordered new elections to be held. The government later decided to stop the use of EVMs.

In Pakistan many of us under modernity syndrome thinks that by using EVMs we can make Pakistani election system clean and fair but before opting for it we have to understand its weak areas too.
