129th May Day: Revisit and develop Newline in the age of Digitization

129th May Day

Revisit and develop Newline

in the age of Digitization

In a situation where labour has been transformed in Contract base employment, where we have experiences of communist rule one should try to innovate new forms of resistance rather than beating behind the bush in old style. There is a much difference between the situation of 1886 and 2015. World is moving toward digitization faster then light so it is essential to include & emphasize on intellectual labor timely. Due to the absence of innovation in Labor movement the struggle is diminishing gradually. Partly it is due to failures of two successful revolutions born out of worker struggle of late 19th century and partly due to absence of innovation. The theoretical challenge to the struggle of workers is big as compared to the challenges of first half of 20th century. Capitalist development smartly coin new ways and in the age of contract employment and digitization it is important for workers to revisit post bolshevik struggle. It is time to call May Day as Worker's Day rather than Labor Day and include intellectual labor in it too.
What is the situation of labor in Russia and China is also an important question? Do workers have organizations in China? In less develop countries like South Asia, Middle east etc worker representatives are corrupt so one have to address such issues too. What British Labor Party achieved or missed during 20th century is also an important angle and one must revisit it too. To celebrate May Day is good but to coin new ways of struggle and find out of box solutions keeping in view changed capital scenario is important. Representation of minorities and women in emerging democracies is good but absence of worker representation is alarming. Why international aid agencies emphasized onl on women and minority representations in assemblies? These are few questions raised in this piece published in Daily Dunya at 129th May Day
