First Army Chief of Pakistan: Who failed to take Oath
He was killed along with two British citizens on his way to London at Dec 13, 1949

A Minhas Rajput, Iftiqar was promoted Captain 29 August 1938 and Major 29 August 1946. He had been nominated to become the first local Commander in Chief (C-in-C) of the Pakistan Army after General Douglas David Gracey's retirement.

A Pakistan Airways Dakota crashed in a deep ravine near Karachi last night. Twenty one passengers and four crew were killed.
Two Pakistan Army generals were among the 25 killed in the Pakistan Airways Dakota, which crashed near Karachi.
They were Major-General Mohammed Iftikhar Khan, on his way to attend a course at the Imperial Defence College in Britain, and Brigadier-General Sher Khan, who was, on his way to New York with his wife for the U.N. Security Council discussion on Kashmir.
There were two Europeans aboard the plane Len Mitchell, British owner of a fruit farm in Pakistan; and Mrs. Bergle, wife of a British bank manager in Karachi

The Dakota was flying from Lahore to Karachi.
