Heat Wave, climate change and power politics
Shameful Power tussle and misleading media?
How we are ruining ourselves?
At 29th May 1786 people were killed in Ahmadabad due to heat wave natural disaster. It was not the first incident and in 2010 in same month of may 1300 people were killed due to heat wave in same city of Ahmadabad. But our informed media and power players including some oversmart political parties remained busy in balame game and fixing provincial government of PPP rather to help people of karachi. according to news during that heat wave two major private hospitals closed their emergencies in karachi too. Just read reuter story about a month back and understand how we are ruining ourselves.
The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicts rising global temperatures could cause an increase of up to 82 cm (32 inches) in sea levels by the late 21st century due to melting ice and the expansion of warming water, threatening coastal cities from Shanghai to San Francisco.
"Since heat waves affect a large population, you cannot move them out. I personally feel that we need to find a better way to deal with a situation like this," said a disaster official from Andhra Pradesh, which has recorded 1,020 deaths.
