30th November: Civil Liberty Day for Pakistanis (Founding day of PPP)

Political History of Pakistan & PPP

30th November:Civil Liberty Day for Pakistanis
 (Founding day of PPP)

Fight for civil space in Pakistan is still prime contradiction yet in more than 47 years Pakistan as a society achieved many land marks regarding democracy.  Court historians are still busy in writing misleading history not only through biased textbooks but also through their cronies in media but people of Pakistan knew very well that who fought with the dictators and authoritarianism. History of civil space in Pakistan cannot written without acknowledging the PPP (Pakistan People's Party), its heroic leaders and workers. 30th November is a day when the party was founded in Lhore, heart of the Punjab. Although the party lost its strengths in many ways yet still it never compromise on continuation of democracy and strengthening of civil space even in rainy days. Since 2008, Pakistan is again on the road of democracy and it is the longest civil period in the history of Pakistan. There are many short comings but revival of civil space is in process. The party is ready to relaunch under its energetic leader Bilawal Bhutto. In the struggle for democracy , liberalism and civil rule the Party has lost its two great leaders (ZAB & BB) but even then it is in the working condition which is unprecedented in many ways. A rethinking process at workers level will help the Party to revive. Self criticism of post BB policies is an essential step in this regard. Struggle for restoration and continuation of democracy is feather in the crown for PPP and it is permanent part of political history of Pakistan. Let us celebrate birth of PPP & unlearn what court historians have written.
