Textbooks Breading Extremism & Hatred

Textbooks Breading Extremism & Hatred

South Asians are product of school textbooks either they read in Public schools or Private schools. Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi scholars many time pinpointed biases , errors and twisted facts in the textbooks. keeping in view latest waves of extremism one has to  raise this issue again and again so that respective governments should take it seriously. Unfortunately, the presence of insensitivity and selective criticism regarding textbooks by civil society mislead many efforts to change it. In post NAP senario there is an immediate need to change textbooks but if we relays on old narratives we cannot move forward.
Opposing Zia is easy yet changes his narrative is a hard nut to crack. NewsLens did a story and tried to explore unholy alliance between textbooks and extremism and Chairman Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board looks ready to change textbooks but ground reality is far behind this claim. whenever you meet subject Specialists, textbook writers, university professors, Central/provincial Curriculum Wing heads and owners/headmasters of public and private schools, you can easily smell the biased mindset they have.Anyway, read the Newslens story yourself
