The story of a forgotten day - the fall of the last independent kingdom, the Lhore Duabar, and the complete takeover by the British. After the Battle of Subhraon, Governor-General Lord Henry Hardinge wrote to the Queen in which he said that today, we have eliminated all local powers.
After the Battle of Chillianwala, (Punjab) Lord Dalhousie wrote to Queen Victoria, the Naked Truth. He said that With the fall of the Lahore Durbar, we have now occupied from Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu) to the Himalayas, and will now draw our boundaries from the southern seas to the Himalayas in the north. They then drew bloody border lines, first Kashmir, then Baluchistan, create Afghanistan, followed by another frontier line from Baltistan to Zahedan via Waziristan, and finally drew a line by cutting Tibetan China, from Nepal to Chittagong.
The last ten years of the fall of the Lhore Durbar bear witness that Punjabis, Pathans, Sindhis, Kashmiris, and Balochis, including Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims among them, fought against British occupation, but after taking over, the British rulers and their collaborators erased their history. The tragedy is that even the Anti-colonial forces (including groups, individuals, movements, writers, novelists etc) was a victim of the lies spread by the British rulers, and still is. Our free media is also a victim of colonial narratives, remaining silent on this day in India and Pakistan. This is a great loss.
