Meet Dr Mubashir Hassan
along with his Ideas & Contradictions
Born in the British Punjab 22 Jan, 1922 in PaniPat, was among the various founders of PPP & due to Bhutto he got the important post of finance minister too. Few links of his interviews are pasted in below to understand what he himself recorded and it helps you to know about him. An article i wrote about him is there too. He was an important man because of his association with Bhutto & PPP from beginning , its victory in 1970 elections, Dhakka dys, formative year of 1972, nationalization etc. As finance minister he did nationalization but failed to rationalize it. Why PPP did such nationalization? who was on board? Was it an afterthought of 16 December 1971 crisis? From Big companies, Banks to educational institutions timm small enterprises nationalization strengthen bureaucratic power but failed to strengthen people's power. In at least two interviews, Dr had shared his views about Ahmdya amendment but at that time he was either finance minister or Secretary General of the party. He said it was a heavy price Bhutto had to pay due to friendship of King Faisal. But he did not explain why Freemason were banned in Pakistan during Bhutto era. But we did not hear this story too. What Americans were thinking these days may help future historian to resolve the riddle. Dr talk about 2nd Islamic summit too in these interviews but when someone asked him about Shah of Iran, he could not answer. Dr told in his interview that he had met Gen Zia few days before hanging of Bhutto but how he got chance to met dictator is still untold story. His association with Ghanwa and love with peace with India are stories of 1990s and onward.
