River channel trade & land passes with politics around it...read and think
The story u will read is still missing in our official & independent scholarships partly due to our heavy dependence on colonial literature and partly due to our own negligence. Yet if u can read pre-British literature (books or reports written before 1849) u can observe a heavy presence there. there is a lot of material regarding river channel trades & land trade routes from ancient till pre British times recorded in books like Miratul Mumalik (mirrors of countries) a travelogue by Tarkish admiral Seddi (syed) Ali Rais of 16th century, Ain Akbari , Tarikh-e-Tahiri, Travels in Punjab & Kashmir by Brain Hugel, Travels into Bukhara by Alexander Burnes and many more like Gardner, stain-back etc . In this piece i took some pieces from Aga Hamdani book which reminds us about the importance of Passes at Pak-afghan borders which had immense important regarding economy & war till the formation of Durand line 1894. Just read and rethink.
