Radio Program Lok Lhar @ Mast FM 103
October 5, 2015 Monday From 4 to 6
MPAs Merry Gil(PML,N) Sardar Wiqas Mokal (PML,Q)and Nabila Hakim Ali(PTI) along with Sabiha Shaheen

  1. What was the vision of State of Allama Iqbal and Quaid e Azam regarding minorities?
  2. What Dr Nazier of Government College Lhore said regarding the misleading term of Schedule Caste? in the First Education Conference held at November 1947
  3. Do you know about the report of committee "Fundamental Rights of the Citizens of Pakistan and on matters related to Minorities"  formed by First Constituent Assembly to support Basic Principle Committee (PBC) in early years. That report was part of First Constitutional draft presented in Assembly in 1950.
  4. There was no restriction for President and PM regarding religion in the first draft that restriction became part of 2nd draft in 1952.
  5. During the debates on Objective Resolution neither Government nor opposition played well. Due to timely intervention of Finance Minister Malik Ghulam Muhammad Objective Resolution got place in the preamble and it remained there in 1956 and 1973 Constitutions yet it was Zia ul Haq who crumbled the Balance and from that day Pakistan is part of problem.
  6. Curriculum changes during Zia era further   insecure minorities
  7. In 2009, Education Policy recommended in favor of minorities and instructed Textbook Boards to develop separate textbooks for non-Muslims regarding religious studies as par their faiths.  Although there was a debate regarding the name of that Subject yet Government did not involve in controversy and called it Ethics or Ikhlaqiat as purposed by 2006 Curriculum document . 2006 Curriculum Document was prepared by many civil society actors and supported by Donors too. Introduction of Ethics was a big shift in last 40 years. Under this policy only Government of the Punjab and Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board has published books of Ethics from Class 3 till 10th. Yet Media and Civil Society still reluctant to acknowledge it. The name of the Subject is a technical debate and I too in favor of an appropriate alternative name yet the concept of introducing separate books is a credible shift.
  8. The next major issue in the Punjab is to decide who will teach Ethics and who will check their papers. Minorities should get a chance to teach and check papers of ethics too.
  9. Media and civil society should pressurize KPK, Sindh and Baluchistan so that they also follows the Punjab.
  10. Textbook Boards should include stories regarding important personalities of Non-Muslim Pakistanis in Urdu and English subjects.
