Textbooks, Curriculum &
our flawed cum misleading narratives
Recently a new blog Khoji: Rethinking about Education published a review of my report WHAT WE ARE TEACHING OUR CHILDREN. The report was written in 2010-11 and after a consistent struggle i published it in Urdu so that our teachers can read it too. The recent blog Khoji is an effort of teachers and a young school teacher Sikander Bajwa is among the team members. In last 5 years I reprinted it many times and sent it to all the 4 provinces time and again including far- flung areas and its clients are mainly teachers. Here I am sharing some of reviews, introductory articles etc with you about that report. Will try to upload various findings too.
The important thing in the study of textbooks and reports on education in Pakistan is our state of denial in many ways. Even majority of our educationists, intellectuals and officers are found selective in their love or hate that is the misleading factor in various education analysis. If we divide our history of education in Pre-Colonial, Colonial and Post-Colonial times and try to pen-down their strengths and weaknesses separately we may get the light in our education Jungle. We often love to adapt populist but misleading slogans rather then challenge them. In the following links you may find some rethinking so i am sharing it here.
