Reality Check
We initiated Wars with India: From 1947 war of Kashmir till Kargil ...Ex-Air Chirf Asghar Khan
India is not interested in further disintegration of Pakistan due to her own security.
We are spending huge amounts in defense and that is part of the problem
We don't need a big army

Click and watch Ex Air Chief Asghar Khan's Interview

Is war with India in Pakistan and War with Pakistan in India a mere trick? War mongering and nationalism based on enemy construction always strengthen religious rightest elements in many ways. Including VK.Singh book Courage and Conviction: An Autobiography many Indians too pinpointed weaknesses of War narratives so if you gathered all you can understand the politics of enemy construction syndrome across borders in India & Pakistan.
What Ex Air Chief said and what he did not reveal needs little attention. Regarding first Kashmir war of 1947-8 Asghar Khan smartly missed General Sikandar Mirza. He blamed either Sardar Qyyum or Tribal mujahidens that is a trick.  Likewise regarding operation Gibraltar he tried to fix Bhutto. He retired from the service at 22 July 1965, not 15 August as he said in the interview. He became the first Pakistani Air Chief at 23 July 1957 when Hussein Shaheed Suhrawardy was PM. He served for 8 years, there must be some extensions. It is unbelievable that he was not aware of operation Gibraltar. When ex President K K Khurshid was consulted he refused to support it. He was a staunch supporter of peaceful and political resolution of Kashmir issue. Converting the blame of failure to Bhutto in particular and Foreign Office in general was a divergence and regarding that twist what Brigadier Shaukat Qadir (retd) had said  is also very important.

"I find it difficult to comprehend how Ayub accepted such an argument which was militarily untenable and, while Ayub could be accused of many things, he was far from being militarily unwise....
1965 witnessed a number of events. First, two of Ayub's sons kidnapped the daughter of the IG Police. This was more than even the ever loyal Nawab of Kalabagh could bear and, when Ayub prevented him from taking any action, he resigned.
1965 was also the year that Ayub contested the elections against Fatima Jinnah. Personally speaking, her election to office would have been disastrous and, in my opinion, Ayub would have won any way.
Nonetheless, not only did two of his sons open fire on demonstrators in Karachi killing 30-odd people and wounding many more, but it was commonly accepted that the elections had been rigged. There were also a number of other incidents that began to come to light in this period, relating to Ayub's nepotism.
As a consequence of all these events, Ayub had lost a lot of political ground. Perhaps he felt that by becoming the liberator of Kashmir he would redeem himself in the eyes of the people"

A political Asghar Khan  declared that people of Pakistan are illiterate. That shows how much knowledge about Pakistanis he has. Regarding 1971 his statement is more problematic. If Indian Army was justified to intervene in Pakistan's Eastern wing due to a military action then what about Kashmir?
It is important to deconstruct Asghar Khan narrative. He criticized Ayub but after retirement got another post from him. He remained at the post of Chairman P I A from 20 August 1965 till 31 December 1968. He was among 9 infamous stars who conspired against the first democratically elected Government of  ZAB. During Zia period he joined MRD against Zia and in 1988 he was with PPP. During early Mushraff period his son Umar Asghar Khan was made federal minister and his name was included in the list of future PMs. He was killed before 2002 elections at 25 June 2002. Asghar Khan merged his party in PTI in 2012.
