Watch Debate regarding August 11, 1947 Speech of M A Jinnah and Religious Minorities in Pakistan

Watch Debate regarding August 11, 1947 Speech of M A Jinnah and State of Religious Minorities in Pakistan
Deviation from Equal Rights for all Citizens

The debate is often raised in deductive rather inductive style. Allama Iqbal & M A Jinnah were in favor of equal rights for all citizens irrespective of religion or language or ethnicity etc. August 11 Speech was in continuity yet the narrative was changed in early 1950s dramatically. According to G W Chudery, infamous objective Resolution was an ambiguous document and could be twisted any where.  On top it, that resolution was in preamble as par a compromise and it was due to efforts of Ghulam Muhammad. In the first draft of Constitution presented in First Constituent Assembly at 1950 there was no restriction of religion for the head of the state. That section became part later on. The debate on Objective Resolution and Principles of policy went wrong in early years of Pakistan partly due to centralist mindset and partly due to bad preferences of opposition within first constituent assembly. The first opposition party in the assembly adopted twisted name for themselves i-e Congress Party Pakistan. It had 10 members in the assembly across East and West Pakistan and all were Non-Muslims. It is high time to revisit the narratives we coined in early days and try to revive the policy of Equal rights for all citizens.
